Do you want me to contact Reuters and confirm they aren’t lying? It’s absolutely common knowledge that BYD and other Chinese EV brands spontaneously combust. 6 battery fires in Australia out of 180,000 cars... 3 of which were due to fires that originated outside of the car...

I’m not here to reason you out of your stupid purchase, why would you listen to me in your own sub. There are more reports and you know how to use google. It’s no secret that china exports cheap material and lithium batteries that catch fire. I’ve also seen new tech recently that ejects the lithium battery sideways, away from the car to make it someone else’s problem during an emergency fire so I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Thanks for the warning dude, any other cars to avoid? KIA/hyundai ICE cars have been pretty well known for catching fire when parked or driving, MB seem to be the most common EV to catch fire in China, ID3 is also over represented. Have seen a few Camry fires on Australian social media (nearly always labeled as BYD) and have seen many a Thai dual cab burn to the ground (that said they are among most common vehicles on our roads)

Have you watched the demonstration between a tesla battery and BYD battery - interesting video to watch. Aslo with regards to the BYD battery - they are of a different composition to Tesla (Li-Ion) while BYD are (Li-Iron-Phosphate),. The current stats are out of 180000 cars in australia only 6 have caught fire... as stated in th previous comment, the other battery fires that are mentioned in the media are for e-bikes, e-scooters and other devices like that and they are because the person is not following the instructions and/or using a non standard charging unit. The new tech of the battery ejection is a trial in progress... for it to be released here there are a number of safety hurdles that need to be addressed first. If there are more reports of EV Vehicle fires in Australia - can you point me to the website for reference. I can see you mind is already made up against EV's so - i would recommend you take a bex and have a lay down.
