Congrats on your purchase. I picked one up as well. It’s a fantastic car. 1. I had a similar problem at first. I unplugged the charger from the wall and it released after that. 2. The sd card is to record the sentry app only I believe. Good luck and enjoy the drive!

Occassionally when my sealion 7 is unlocked i cant pull out the charger. I click unlock again and it frees it up.

You’ll need to open the app and set it up. Very straight forward.

Was in a big of a rush for work so didn’t slow down to try methodically. Will test that on the next occasion

Off topic, but anyone know what the wait times are on the sealion 8’s at the moment?

Unlocking it the first time does the trick but after a minute or so it'll lock the charger in again, hence unlocking the second time when you're about to pull it out. At least that's how it is on the 7

I have to double tap the unlock button on my sealion 6 to release the charger. Just single tap unlocks the car but doesn’t release the charger.

Can you use your phone as a key? Ie don't need to carry keys around for the car?

think if you double tap the unlock on the keyfob it allows the charger plug to be disconnected, same if you want to disconect when its actively charging. Had the same problem when i first got my SL7 a few weeks ago and needed to google it.

What exactly is the issue with downloading offline maps? Is there a message saying it cant connect to a network or anything like that? I haven't had any issues with downloading offline maps And is your 4G connectivity definitely active? Perhaps youre unable to download maps via 4G if it hasn't been activated by BYD yet.

No it doesn’t unfortunately. I contacted byd and they confirmed this.

I am still waiting for the dealer to link my phone app to the car - apparently 72h wait 🤷🏽‍♂️

With CarPlay connected I can download maps but it saves on the phone I believe not the car memory. The infotainment system doesn’t seem to allow this option - I have tried using the included 4G and I have also connected my house wifi without success

\+1 on double clicking the unlock button on the key fob. this should disengage the charger and you should be able to unplug.

When my charge cable won’t release (after unlocking with key) I always open the driver’s door and hit unlock on the door controls - works every time for me (Atto 3)

Ok. Have had mine a couple of weeks. The charger should unlock when you unlock the car, but only for about 20 secs then it will lock itself back into place, even if the car is still unlocked. The car has a digital key you can use your phone to be the RF card to use instead of the key of the RF card they give you. Just need to car to be added to the app by the dealer, took about a week for me. Then you can share the key with other users if you like but you stay the "master" and can time limit or remove it from them when you like. The instructions say BYD Australia only supports apple and android if it is on Samsung or Google pixel phones but I have a different android phone and it works perfectly well. The sentry mode is not on the phone app but in the car screen apps and I don't have an SD card yet to try it. Also, mine was set up with Google as the main assistant, I have reset it to BYD in the car screen apps because then you can say things like "hey BYD, turn on my ventilated seat", or open window, set temperature to 20 etc etc... you can still use Google assistant to fire up Spotify as well. I use waze for navigation but if you want nav on the instrument cluster or on the HUD I think you have to use Google maps navigation. Enjoy, it is a cool car.... Yes. Once the car is registered with BYD the 4G data service will be enabled and you’ll be able to use the app. You can setup an Apple Key (I don’t use android) and open/start/lock the car by tapping it on the external mirror. I haven’t used the fob yet and it’s great leaving the house with no keys.

I just took delivery of my Sealion 8 Premium and the infotainment system is so bad. I came from a tesla model y juniper and it so clunky and slow. Do I just have a defective one or is this just it?
