BYD delivery issues - anyone else missing their NFC keycard?

BYDbuyer | 2026-01-30 05:39 | 40 views

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced a messy pickup/delivery with BYD. On the day of collection late last year, I found that my car wasn't actually ready. It was still partially covered in the packing tape they use when shipping. A bit of a hassle when I'm in a rush, but they were able to sort it out. What I've found more annoying is that over a month after collection I still don't have an NFC keycard. It wasn't there on collection and they gave me various assurances about it being found and delivered eventually. Essentially they've lost it and aren't sure which dealership it's at. Since then I've called customer support, messaged the general manager, and emailed the delivery coordinator. I'm dealing with EV DealerGroup in Melbourne, who I believe are their agents. I was wondering if there's a contact at BYD head office in China or Australia who could help. Any help would be appreciated!

My pickup was shambolic with issues unresolved over a month later. I had one call with head office who promised to follow up but didn't. I haven't attempted chasing hardcore yet, but will reach that point next week. I love the vehicle, but wouldn't buy another based on my pickup experience and it seems to be a common story

Your point if valid but does anyone actually bother using it? I thought it was cool as hell but between the app and the key I’ve never bothered

Was this when EV Direct was the distributor, or post BYD taking over? I ask as I may want to buy one in the future and wonder if BYD taking over the whole process from beginning to end has addressed these issues.

I want one so I can leave my phone in the car while I’m at the beach. That’s about it.

No I had a smooth experience. Chase it down. But yeah I don’t really use it because I use my phone or the fob. Phone is good as it’s less to carry.

Collected my car in January which went fine, so perhaps they’ve improved their processes. Everyone I dealt with had EV Direct emails with plenty of their branding still on invoices and contracts etc, so not sure to what level BYD has taken over the process. On delivery day they had 15 or so cars coming in so it seemed much more chaotic and disorganized compared to the test drive day, but still had plenty of time to inspect the car, check that the software was up to date, setup the app and ask questions. Two fobs and NFC card received, although yet to use it. Had originally ordered floor mats/boot liner which was unavailable with no delivery date known but they had no issue with organizing a refund. Cashback paperwork was emailed a week later.

Can absolutely relate to this. Got my car in early November and ordered it with floor mats. Didnt come with floor mats or NFC. I was told it'd be a week later. The salesperson called me once and said they were coming in from the storage. After 3 follow ups it was by the end of the week. No call. Chased up a number of times salesperson wouldn't call me back. Eventually before Christmas was told they were ready for collection. Went in and they were the wrong type. Was told the right ones would be delivered to me between Christmas and new years. No contact. I got tired of the bullshit and emailed BYD online and said my experience. Very next day my floor mats were available for collection. 2 days later they diverted me to a different store and got the NFC Installed. I dont want to say where it was a negative experience but will say the experience to start dealing with Caroline Springs was significantly better if not perfect, although it was highly inconvenient to where I live. edit - mine is a Sealion 7

Newer ones don’t include the NFC card. You can buy it and have it programmed for under $50 though. (Sharks anyways)

GlassInspiration 2026-01-30 08:28

My experience was post BYD takeover.

Remote_Condition_172 2026-01-30 08:42

No. Picked my Atto 3 up in 2023. No issues. Going great.

Dsco_Stu25 2026-01-30 08:57

Which BYD did you get? The Shark isn't delivered with an NFC card. All the rest are 🙂

Been 3 months still don’t have my deep dish floor Matt’s and dealership doesn’t return my msgs. There phone message box is full. Once they have your money they don’t seem to care. When I am not so busy planing to follow up with BYD, such a shame about their service of existing customers

BYDbuyer 2026-01-30 10:11

Yea this it exactly. I like to go swimming at the beach in the morning. I don't like to take my keys and/or phone with me down there. Regardless, it's a 60k + car that hasn't come with everything that was promised.

BYDbuyer 2026-01-30 10:13

Wow I just realised that they also only gave me one Fob. Sigh.

Smart_Discussion_595 2026-01-30 10:56

Totally understand wanting it although the time , energy , effort you put into chasing it I’d probably just spend the $50 and order one.

EVRicho 2026-01-30 10:58

Late last year Shark 6 didn't come standard with NFC cards. They are optional. It does have the Digital Key option which works with compatible phones.

SeaworthinessFew5613 2026-01-30 12:10

I was first batch and they never gave me my key. A little annoyed about it but still can’t be bothered pushing much farther

Prior-Coat7528 2026-01-30 12:17

I've got a Sealion 8 on order but will just refuse to drive it away until they've sorted their shit if its missing anything when I go to collect it. I reckon they would have it all resolved pretty quickly if the car is taking up space at the dealership because it then becomes their problem

BYDbuyer 2026-01-30 13:22

Yea I wish I had done that.

Mysterious-Yak1693 2026-01-30 20:24

we only got 1 fob too, but also 1 NFC card. Never had a car that that didn't come with 2 fobs, but i guess we did get the two 'keys'. It seems there is a lot of variance on the delivery product.

PedGetsFed 2026-02-01 03:11

It was pretty good for me...have not used that card since day 2

meski_oz 2026-02-02 08:50

I wish I could add it to the phone (with an ATTO3)

Sumowarrior 2026-02-03 02:47

Sharks don't get an NFC card. source: I do pre delivery inspections on BYDs.

Sumowarrior 2026-02-03 02:54

Seal, Sealion 5, Sealion 8, Atto 1 and Atto 2 get one key only from the factory. Sealion 6 &7, Atto 3 and Shark get two keys.

shazzabam 2026-02-13 04:03

I just picked my sealion 7 up yesterday. Are they suppose to come with floor mats? I didn’t ask
