God’s Eye
I’ve been looking everywhere to confirm this but can someone please tell me if the Current Sealion7 in AUS has the capacity to eventually be updated to be autonomous driving like China?

Would be good to know!
I am pretty sure BYDs with full autonomous have extra sensors. There are three levels of gods eye. Any byd can do level 1, possibly 2. Top tier is reserved for cars with more kit. If you look at gods eye vehicles on the chinese market they have extra sensors on the side near the front doors, and a lidar bump above the windscreen. These look like they would require body work to retrofit.
Thank you for explaining! I keep hearing different opinions but no one with a confident answer. So the question then is do they have Level 2 and if so what capacity can that have?
I just bought one and I’m happy. But I really wouldn’t buy with this expectation. The lane keeping I think best on the freeway. I tried using it eg on the waringah freeway in Sydney which is a little narrow at times and it hit the rumble strips a few times.
No.
No. Chinese domestic EVs have quite obvious LiDAR above the windscreen.
cars in Australia don't have the god eye, it's a lidar unit on the top of the car that looks like a bump. Our cars have a self driving feature that will hold a freeway / hwy lane that is properly marked very well and maintain speed and distance from cars in front. you can probably test drive it and try it out - it's the button on the left of the steering wheel. https://preview.redd.it/gok6btz84pfg1.png?width=576&format=png&auto=webp&s=e22e515789acef5bea08a7adc2430b1c28bfd8c6
No they won't. LiDAR aside, the main reason it won't work is because none of the cars that come here get the 'tri-camera' set up behind the rear vision mirror. God's Eye will work without Lidar (God's Eye C), but it won't work without those cameras.
It's somewhat of a stretch to call lane assist a self driving feature. If you take your hand of the steering wheel it will eventually shut itself off.
Yep, waiting for LiDAR BYD in Aus. Then I'll buy one.
So, same as Tesla FSD?
Tesla FSD navigates streets, traffic lights, intersections, automatic lane changes, and parking, Their autopilot which you get if you don't pay for FSD can navigate freeway exits automatically
But also requires you to touch the steering wheel every so often...
its somewhat useful... i only use it if i am on a longer drive and it does reduce mental load... or if i want to take a drink or change music or something. its pretty solid
I use it all the time. But it isn't self driving.
it has control of the steering wheel, and throttle... what defines self driving?
Crawling is the first stage of running.
That's in the definition of level 2 -- driver must remain ready to intervene. Lane assist + adaptive cruise control is enough for level 2 given it's two systems. Tesla FSD is still classified as level 2 too. They'd need to take on liability in some circumstances to move to level 3.
No it won't be officially supported due to current Australian Driving Regulations.
