First time trying Plasti-dip

Pretty satisfying actually, like peeling off a wet popped balloon.

Nice how many coats did you do? I was wondering if the badges were exposed enough to produce that peel/cut through the platidip

Why?

Shame

I wouldn't have ever owned a black (red, dark blue any strong colour) car in Brisbane. In Melbourne not as much of an issue. I still hang my clothes inside out on the line in Melbourne as a habit from living in Brissie.. everything faded in the sun ..

I also meant for the poor blody paint haha but yeah, the cars bloody hot too. I grew up hiding from the sun in Qld, you'd hunt for shade, avoid the midday sun, be branded by car seat buckles.. super fun

4-5 thick coats with 25 mins in between each to dry

DukeSimmo 2026-01-22 07:34

Why anything? The black on black is easily the best colour with the large plastic wheel arches. The black badges is just a personal touch.

You know you can literally buy a kit on AliExpress that you just stick on the badge...

Old-Percentage9496 2026-01-22 21:15

Ok. Thanks. I get what you’re trying to accomplish.

CaptSpazzo 2026-01-23 08:31

I did my badges 7 yrs ago and they are still perfect absolutely no chipping or peeling

DukeSimmo 2026-01-23 09:49

I got one and they didn’t fit, the groove was too deep for it to stick and the D letter was too wide to fit the curve. Plasti-dip worked perfect.

Ok next stage is to black out the tail lights so nobody can see your brake lights or indicators

DukeSimmo 2026-01-24 05:54

Black on black does look good I

DukeSimmo 2026-01-26 07:19

Ya exactly, super easy and I can peel it off the badges if I don’t like it

NixAName 2026-01-26 12:40

I'm glad you're happy with it.

NixAName 2026-01-26 12:41

On par with gutter oil.
