Not gone for first service at 5k on odo

As title says. Closest BYD service centre to me is 1.5h drive (WA), and due to parental responsibilities I have not been able to go do this (complimentary) service. Plan to go in holidays, likely Jan. Don't drive that much. Have had car since August, and now on 6k on odo. So, am I killing/damaging my car? is this first service mission critical? Drives fine, nothing seems to be going wrong. no weird noises or anything. Not sure if they will still make it complimentary by then :/, and if not, easier to just go to a local service place....so, in the same breath, any recommendations? (autobarn etc)

No, they done away with the 5k service at end of august 2025, because it's not needed. 20k is the first service. You are still entitled to the 5k service if you recieved the car before the end of august.

MyCar can service BYDs, do you have them around? I wouldn't be worried too much about this first complimentary one. But don't skip on annual ones. Probably nothing is going to happen to the car, but I saw a post not long ago at CarsAustralia. Someone was asking for used car buying advice "is it a red flag if BYD skipped servicing". And everyone was saying stay away. So potentially harder to sell later if you skip these.

Cool, thanks for that. TBH, the time I spend away from work, and the inconvenience of it all does not make the complimentary 5k service worth my while, so I will just skip to 20k Appreciate the informed answer.

Thanks, yeah, myCar is in fact 10 minutes walk from home. I will wait until the 20k one, as noted by another answer. Don't plan to resell, this is my final car (aged 54). My last car (kia cerato) lasted me 10 years. I only upgraded as my dog's new herding ball did not fit in the kia's boot :) My ultimate plan is to use car as home battery as well, as I used money I planned for home battery towards car cost. V2H is finally becoming a thing here.
