EVCHARGO New wall charger not connecting to car but not charging?

GuyThatSaysCool | 2026-02-26 22:47 | 18 views

I just installed a 32A 240V EVCHARGO wall charger for my BYD Sealion 7. The charger connects, but i get a red charger logo on the dash, and the car does not charge. Power is not tripping, the cable is the appropriate size, the charging station is flashing green, and scheduled charging is not set up. Have tried resetting, turning on and off, etc. I cannot get the new wall charger to charge the car. Any tips?

What charger do you have? because based on a quick google EVCHARGO is an app that supports multiple chargers. pics of your setup? and more info? have you tried charging on another AC charger?

Apologies, I have an EVSwitch

> EVSwitch ok cool. does the app say anything interesting?

The app think the car is charging but states it isn't drawing any power

odd. can you charge on another AC charger? did you get a granny charger with your car?

Is the port locking the plug? If not unplug and replug. How long has it been at 0kw?

Granny charger works, port is locking the plug in. It will stay at 0kw for as long as it's plugged in.

certainly seems like something wrong on the charger side then. who did your installation?

GuyThatSaysCool 2026-02-27 01:04

A reputable electrical company that does these installations often. I really can't find an issue with the installation. I'm getting 230v out of the plug ports on the wall charger when I take the cover off and expose the terminals. I have been leaning towards an issue with the car talking to the charger?

> 230v out of the plug ports on the wall charger on the car side of the charger? or are you measuring the mains?

GuyThatSaysCool 2026-02-27 01:27

Mains in and cable out. Really starting to lean towards a software/firmware issue

The "red charger logo" just means its plugged in. It isn't an error. Likely you have to turn on "Plug to charge" or set up one of the RFID cards.

Would they not have a test unit setup anywhere? if you can try on the same charger, somewhere else, see outcome, and then you;d know which side is issue. You need to eliminate which is the issue.
