Question about highway speeds

So I just got a brand new Seal U DM-I and it’s my first hybrid. Couldn’t find if this was already asked and answered so sorry if it’s a duplicate. I was driving today on highway for the 1st time. When I got into my car battery charge was around 54%, SoC was setup at 25%. Mode setup was HEV/ normal mode. During the drive I used cruise control set at 130km/h. What concerned me is that, a lot of times I could hear the engine sound like it was running at very high RPM ( I only drove ever gasoline cars before so it sounded to me like 5-6k rpm in these cars). Indicator on the left side was in “power “ almost at all times. Is this normal behavior or am I doing something wrong ? Thanks in advance

Hi, the behaviour is normal, but is actually something you can simply avoid, following below. Recommended SOC Strategies: Long Distance / Highway (AWD): Set to SAVE mode with SOC at 50-70%. This ensures the engine maintains a high battery buffer for performance, allowing efficient hybrid operation (HEV). City / Short Distance: Use EV mode or AUTO mode. For maximum efficiency when you can charge at your destination, keep the SOC lower (e.g., 25-30%). Hilly / Mountain Terrain: Set SAVE mode to 70% before the climb to ensure the battery doesn't drain, which could lead to power limitations. Daily Driving/Commuting: Use EV Mode for maximum, efficient, electric-only driving. As a result, the car will remain at high soc on highways, with a gentle recharge while driving at higher speeds when the ice is supporting in parallel. The battery will regen aggressively when reaching 20-25% at all cost. So that's what you want to avoid. Once you get the hang of it (and it's pretty straightforward) you'll enjoy the smooth ride and power when needed. Cheers
