its the data for the included sim. not sure what the deal is in NZ, but in Aus you get 2 years included with the car then you have to pay the monthly after that. App access and updates still work if you don't pay. Inbuilt spotify etc won't work. You can hotspot to a phone or just use AndroidAuto/Carplay.
Maps works without subscription afaik, as does the phone application to remotely cool/heat the car etc. Just entertainment apps like youtube, spotify etc need hotspot.
