Are you using sanitizer on your hands?
No mate. Not something I ever use. It's only happened at the very top. Everywhere else is fine.
and thats not exactly where the average person holds the wheel either... Maybe sun damage if its only at the top? Good on them for agreeing to replace it.
It’s all ‘vegan leather’ (i.e. some sort of modern ‘pleather’) and I had this happen to the steering wheel in a Volvo XC40 Inscription as well. That was Irritating too. Pleasantly surprised BYD have agreed to replace!
Quite common. BYD will change the whole steering wheel at no cost (at least in Brazil).
I've seen this pop up quite frequently. Although it must be something from less than perfect manufacturing, i think hand natural oils+sweat+sunlight without proper regular cleaning with appropriate detailer vegan leather agent, accelerates the process. That's the only explanation i can think of. There's no other plausible scenario.
Mate just had his replaced in Australia.. They initially tried to say it was a consumable and wouldn’t be replaced but in the end they replaced under warranty..
Same happened with my Seal a few weeks ago. My dealer confirmed it's a known issue and said it's typically covered under the manufacturer's warranty, at least in the EU

Probably UV from sun.
BYD doesn't dissappoint... Hope they keep it that way... 🤞
“Leather”? Aren’t they all done out in Napa leather?
I've noticed really tiny blemishes on mine as well, after only 9 months of ownership. Good to know others have had success getting these replaced.
It happened to my BYD Han as well. After a while, it ripped off.
In our country, dealers don’t replace it.
