My new BYD Sealion 7 Excellence comes tomorrow

Hey all! Moving from my Evoque to the BYD Sealion 7 Excellence tomorrow and excited about having a car that’s not like driving a bus (notably the 0-60!). In the past I’ve always had something “nippy”. M340i, megane RS, Focus St and some more. Being a dad I wanted something that potentially fun but also practical with kids. Is there any tips/advice for a newbie to BYD and full electric that you could give? Thanks! (UK based)

I just received my Sealion 7 Comfort a week ago. Not a huge amount to add, but I would say make sure it's updated to the latest software version. Don't rely/trust the ICC Definitely download the app and set up the phone as a digital key. Didn't think I'd like this or use it much but it's become my primary method of locking and unlocking the car. Otherwise enjoy, I'm still in my early days but I'm genuinely impressed

Had my S7 Ex in the UK since November here are my observations. The slightly bad bits: Remember to turn the windscreen wipers off when nipping into the shops. When you open the door to get back in they will swipe a bucket load of water into your face if you don’t. It will occasionally detect a child left in the car if I’m sat in it when charging. I’ve only once experienced. The car hibernating where you get in and nothing turns on. Just get out shut the door and press the button on the door handle 5 or 6 times and it wakes it back up. The very good bits: Absolutely awesome acceleration for a big heavy car. I keep having to retrieve my glasses from the back seat when they get ripped of my head under hard acceleration. A lovely drive not sporty as such but just feels solid and refined and yet still fun. Awesome interior feels like quality and very comfortable. In summery it has some quirks but the positives out weigh the negatives by a huge margin. Regarding electric over ICE. I never thought I would go the electric route until I realised I could drive a 60k car for effectively net zero cost to my business. Now I’ve got one I can’t ever see me going back. I’m already eying the BYD luxury range Denza for when they launch this year with the 750hp shooting break. It’s just so simple charging at home and not having to go to petrol stations. Enjoy it is very good. Oh just a little tip, if you want to open the frunk pull the lever twice.

"a car that’s not like driving a bus (notably the 0-60!)." Sorry to say that but it's driving like a bus :( I was so disappointed after the test drive. Acceleration isn't all, Sealion 7 has a really soft suspension and it's a heavy car - 2435kg - practically every review of a Sealion 7 has a conclusion that this car is a family car, nothing to do with sporty driving. Why did you decide to buy Sealion 7 after having those cars in the past? - it's like 2 different planets. Also sitting position for taller ppl is more bus-sy than sporty: [https://www.reddit.com/r/BYD/comments/1mq9re3/seat\_position/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BYD/comments/1mq9re3/seat_position/) As a family car it's a great one, family i mean ... opposite to sporty driving, but then - what you need all this hp for.

Ignore that nonsense bus response. Almost certain it’s the same guy that posts on a lot of posts like this, then deletes account. It’s a great car, I love mine. I had an Audi Q4 etron before, and this is 10x better. If, like me, you spend time in the car waiting for kids clubs etc, then look up how to install apps. I installed Iptv on mine and can watch whatever when I am parked up waiting for the kids.

I take it you sideloaded the app? Not sure thats possible in all countries, hence the question. UK based and getting my Excellence on 3rd March.
