‘Courtesy’ lights

Had my Seal U for about 7 months and still enjoying it, albeit as a daily runner following last year’s road-trip. When I lock/unlock my Seal U, it flashes the hazards (fine) but also cycles through dipped and undipped main beams and… I’d rather it didn’t. Like a good road user, I reverse onto my driveway, but there’s nothing but air between my driveway and the front of my neighbour’s house across the road. I’m conscious that, in these dark winter days, I flood the front rooms of his house with full beams each time the car is locked/unlocked. I’ve played with the settings, set the intelligent courtesy lights off, reduced them to zero, but it still cycles through its main beams (albeit more briefly) every time it locks/unlocks. Is there a setting I’ve missed?

The courtesy lights are the ones that shine down from the mirror and door to help see where you are walking, not the headlights. If you turn the headlights off on the stalk in the car that should stop them from coming on when locking and unlocking I think.

Ahhhhhh ok ty

It’s: unlock with welcome and lock with farewell. I’m having the same issue. Flood the across neighbors with the lights 😝

Except those just ‘preview’ the settings and flash the lights at the neighbours 😕

The lights you discuss are known as "follow me home" lighting. It's been around since the mid 2000s. However I have never heard of them just coming on by themselves. Any other car I've ever had you are required to flash the high beams after turning off the engine, that will illuminate all lights for 30s. I presume you're not flashing your lights every time, maybe turning the lights manually off would resolve this though.

I changed the timer to about 20 seconds max at this stage vs the 40 seconds by default, since it was weird when entering a dark house it was as if the police were outside shining their flashlights through the windows.

Nope. Tried this. The Seal U cycles its dipped and full beams on lock and unlock regardless of whether the lights are switched on or not. Turning them off did not solve the problem.

Weird. Phone the service centre and ask. Maybe update the thread after doing so for others in future

Happy to do so! Still some 1000s of miles away from a service interval. I can’t be arsed to take in earlier so will bookmark this for then 😅

Oh nah I meant just drop them a call and ask over the phone 😅
