PowerX is still unusable

Money_Independent_16 | 2026-02-08 04:04 | 44 views

Went to PowerX in Japan yesterday and unfortunately still the same picture. My BYD Seal or the charger refuses to charge there properly. 70-90kwh - No problem 100kwh+ - you get crazy fluctuations and disconnect in the end, so you can’t leave the car and go shopping. You need to replug the charging cable several times, sometimes after 10 minutes , sometimes after 2-3min.

Can you throttle the charge to get it to work consistently?

Money_Independent_16 2026-02-08 06:50

No, it would be cool to have a setting for that, but no.

That sucks! I can throttle my dolphin surf charge speed but your car is in a complete difference league to mine.

The fluctuations happen here not just with Tesla-shite. Also random fast chargers around town. #SealU

Can you throttle DC rapid charging? or just the AC charging?

farqueue2 2026-02-08 09:17

You can on the SL7

Money_Independent_16 2026-02-08 09:31

On my seal it’s an option only for AC charging

buddii 2026-02-08 09:34

It works for my dolphin (Japan)

FrenchFatCat 2026-02-08 11:00

Ah! My bad!

Money_Independent_16 2026-02-08 12:39

What is the charging speed on dolphin? 88?

Sample-Range-745 2026-02-09 00:25

Only works for AC charging though.

Haven't tried a powerX station. How is it any different than eneos?

Money_Independent_16 2026-02-09 09:45

FLASH charges work without any problems. Same with EMP affiliated chargers. Toyota’s TEEMO and PowerX don’t work for me. ENEOS is 50kwh and this one is 150kwh, much faster and could give top speed for the seal(105kwh). ENEOS always 44-48kwh for me

I dont remember I barely charge outside but I think they LR was sth like this. So I guess its only at higher charging speeds (like you said)

What did PowerX say about it? Did other Seal owners report issues too? When PowerX was still free, I used to charge my Dolphin weekly from 15% to 100% in less than 1h. It never failed, most reliable charger I have ever used.

Money_Independent_16 2026-02-09 14:58

I had this problem on several PowerX chargers. Initially they said that it was a signal from my car to cut the charge, but after further investigation they said that it was a problem on their side. Yeah, you must have stable charging since problem occurs after 102-105kWh speeds, dolphin can charge up to 88 or something like that

Minute_Matter2640 2026-02-09 15:01

I’ve never even heard of PowerX. Is that a Kanto thing? We’re in Kansai/Tokai

nexflatline 2026-02-09 15:19

Maybe the best approach is for byd to pressure PowerX into fixing it or maybe release an update for the car to play along the charger better? Ask your dealership to inform the HQ about the issue.

Money_Independent_16 2026-02-09 15:58

Yeah, BYD dealers and HQ don’t give a …, their response was - we tested eMP charges , they work, use them.

nexflatline 2026-02-09 22:13

That's disappointing. In the beginning they did fix the ABB charger issue (or at least pressured eMP to fix it).
