Byd cars

I’m considering buying a BYD Qin Plus or a BYD Seal 05. However, charging infrastructure in my country is limited, and home charging isn’t an option for me. Because of that, I intend to rely on the hybrid gasoline system and use the car like a conventional hybrid, without regular plug-in charging. Or maybe charging it once a month. Is that a good choice?

I drive for 1.5 years a BYD King GS DM-i. 26.000Km on ODO. I can charge at home with solar generation. My city driving is made only on EV mode. And I usually make small road trips (130-150Km) where I can squeeze around 95-100km of the EV mode before switching to HEV. So for a 140Km trip I usually spend 2.5L of gasoline. On longer trips I usually set SoC on SAVE 60% and run mostly on HEV, and only when on my way home that I switch back to EV to deplete the rest of the battery. To your question: The car will run normally using it on HEV mode. I just would recommend to set SoC SAVE 70% so you will always have this big reserve just in case. I run a test some months back where I used the car on HEV mode for a week and my fuel efficiency was around 20km/l. On road trips, disconsidering battery use, fuel efficiency ranges between 16-22km/l. Depending on terrain and speed. A 18-19 km/l is the usually seen. So I really don't see any problems on using it as a regular hybrid and charging it eventually where you can. Just check the max power these specific models can take, because this model sold here in Brazil is 6.6 kW only and can be a problem on public infrastructure as it would take a little more than 2 hours to top it up on that "speed". EDIT: Mind those fuel efficiency figures are with E27-E30 gasoline. Brazil don't sell Gasoline with less ethanol mixed up.
