1,50MW, not 1.500,00MW… Right? One and a half MW is mind blowing, one and a half GW seems a bit too much!

Impossible is nothing

Excuse me, but what's all this power for? Is it distributed to each input, or can I charge a car with 1500 megawatts? Because if the car has a power draw limit, the rest isn't needed.

It’s a typo. 1.5 MW or 1,500 kW

NienteNessuno 2026-02-02 19:08

Charging a car at 1.5GW, with the technology we have now is impossible

Low_Risk_3476 2026-02-02 19:09

No it's not..it's just not been revealed to you yet

Charging 2 cars at 750kw

Yes it does, as well as other technology that you can't even imagine

Great for BYD marketing. Not immensely useful as yet.

Eastern37 2026-02-03 04:10

You mean 1.5 MW

deed02392 2026-02-03 05:48

God. Yes, lol.

Impressively slim-looking cable (it says it weighs 2 kg which isn't much), my local 150kW charger has a fatter cable than that.

I read that the cables will use water cooling to avoid overheating! Very cool technology, literally

Suntzu_AU 2026-02-03 23:08

Yeah, I get that. It's just that there's not many. It's good that they're proving the technology though. I just don't see a mass market appeal for it for at least the next, I don't know, five to ten years.

Well, because you're in Australia like me, the focus here should be maximising the network of 150 kilowatt chargers. It doesn't mean they shouldn't do one megawatt charges, it's just more of a demonstration capability, in my opinion. They're not super relevant to mass adaptation of EVs.

1.5GW - enough for time travel

_ytrohs 2026-02-04 15:16

Ok, that can happen at the same time as pushing the bleeding edge.
