It's limited by the charger (EVSE). Even if the cable and the car's OBC (on-board charger) support 22kW, there's nothing you can do if the public EVSE is limited to less or doesn't support 22kW.
Try a known 22kW charging station with the same cable to test and confirm.

Basically all BYD cars are single phase AC so they cannot use the full 3 phase power at L2 charging stations.
Edit: newer models have 3 phase 11kw AC

AC over 22kw (or 11kw) Wallbox (=Typ 2) is of course 3 phases for all BYDs.
OP is talking about 22kw/11kw connection.
1 phase of course is, if you use 7kw house socket.

The cable description just says it is for use to max 22kw by its technical requirements. That doesn't mean the car can go up to, nor the source can supplies up to.

Basically the car can do:
Single phase - 32A which is around 7kw
3 phase - 16A which is around 11kw
It can't do 32A on 3 phase, which is 22kw. The cable you have can do that on a car that supports it.

I have wondered though, can it do 11kw on 2-phase?
(ie 7kw+7kw but then capped at 11kw as opposed to 7+7+7 but still capped at 11kw)

I didn't realise that newer BYD's have 3 Phase A/C, that's good to know.
My Atto 3 and other similar aged cars (pre 2024) only have single phase 7kw AC charging.

I guess my question is
If we do 2* 32a circuits would it charge at 11kw still? (Circuit max is 14a, but the BYD can only do 11kw on AC)
Or is multi phase limited to 16a per phase

So it's not a question of the cable, but of the car. If I took a friend's BMW x1 cable and used it for my car, it would still charge 10 kW, and if I gave mine to him, it would most likely charge at 20 kW (when he charges it at the same station, it delivers 20 kW, still with the cable they gave him).

The BMW x1 had the optional 22kw on board charger. If your friends car has that option, you can switch cables. But maybe you should look up what these cables cost, before giving it away for free 😅
And if you lease your BYD you will have to return it with the original cable in the end

yeah no way to really know how it would handle a 2ph supply, but I expect one of 3 outcomes.
* 16a per phase and just get you 7kw
* 32a single phase, again 7kw
* try to do 3ph and fail and stop charging.
