BYD Prepares Next-Generation Wi-Fi 6 Infotainment System for Future Vehicles, FCC Filing Reveals
Hey everyone, was doing some digging through recent FCC filings and stumbled upon what looks to be the brains of a next-gen DiLink system from BYD. The filing is for a new central infotainment unit (model MTD421-A1) that's packing Wi-Fi 6, which is a massive upgrade. This should mean way faster and more reliable OTA updates, better in-car media streaming, and just a much snappier experience overall. https://preview.redd.it/m5wibwg06dgg1.png?width=1704&format=png&auto=webp&s=922d4e585ad96826e07c7056a2e0bc047856efb1 What's really interesting is that while the radio is tested for Wi-Fi 6, the specs hint at future-proofing for Wi-Fi 6E. Based on the confidentiality request, we might not see this in a production car until mid-2026, but it's clear BYD is getting serious about their in-car tech. Besides just raw speed, what's the one software feature or improvement you're hoping this new hardware enables for DiLink?
