Is it possible to disable the “music” the car plays when running on low speed?

While my Seal has it, I friend of mine got a Sealion 7 in Japan which does not play that synthetic sound + “music” when the car is running under 20Km/h. Also, on the other day, I saw another Seal that appears not having it as well, what made me wonder if the there is any recent software update that allows us to disable it. 🤔 I don’t mean completely disabling the synthetic sound it makes, which can also be seen in other EV/Hybrid cars, but the kinda “music” it plays along the synthetic sound.

In the options there might be a choice for brand sounds or normal, brand plays the "music" for me and changes the indicator sound too

My terminology is off on this one sorry, hopefully i can make it clear enough.... In my Atto 3 I had to use two fingers to scroll down from the top of the display to open the shortcut menu, in there is a tile for engine noise, turn it off stop the annoying low speed sound.

Yes, there is. But both options play some “music” along the synthetic sound. For me, the brand option plays a music that resembles Christmas! 😅

Oh! I’ll try this one. I don’t remember any options for engine sound there, but it does worth a more careful look. Thanks. 😊

Need to customise your view. Engine noise will be one of the icons you can set to show when 2 finger drag down on the tablet

In the EU it is mandatory by law, that you can not deactivate this sound. Where are you located at?

Not sure where you are, but here in the UK, AVAS is a legal requirement. If your car was registered after 1 July 2019, no low speed noise is an MOT failure. I know this is also a legal requirement in the EU and USA.

I am in Japan. Here, AVAS is also a legal requirement. To be clear, I don’t want to turn off that synthetic noise it does, and other cars do as well. I just would like to not have that “bip” it does along side the noise when using the classic mode. The other mode “brand”, plays an even funnier music that reminds me about Christmas! 😅

Same as my friend’s. Are you in Japan?

redbearddev 2026-01-30 01:04

I’m in Japan. I guess a similar law applies here, since many EVs/PHEVs/Hybrid vehicles here have this synthetic noise, when running on battery. But, I noticed my friend’s brand new Sealion does not have this, and according to him, he has not changed any settings. It has been like this since he got it from the dealer, and he was quite surprised of hearing my Seal playing that dingo! 🤔

Thanks, I’ll try it tonight. 🤞

Sealion 7, all over the world doesn't have that feature

abaris-eiwar 2026-01-30 07:41

Not sure where it's located in the Seal, but in the Dolphin it's just a small speaker under the bonnet near the front grill. I think you can just unplug it if you want to disable it completely.

Same here, mine doesn't either (EU)

redbearddev 2026-01-30 10:36

That sounds like a good catch! But, I’m afraid it would bring me some trouble in the regular inspections we have around here! 🤔 I’d probably forget to reconnect it! 😅 But, thanks for the suggestion.

You mean the Ice-cream van music?!

redbearddev 2026-02-06 01:21

🤣 yup

redbearddev 2026-02-06 01:24

Tried it, but couldn’t find this option anywhere in my system. I checked the version, and it says I’m on the latest version, but I saw some comments online about a possible update being rolled out. Just not sure if it is available in Japan!
