BYD's God Eye 5.0 is now available in China

Lots of info around what Gods Eye is but not much in terms of who’s gunna be able to run it.

Every BYD car with a lidar sensor up top will be equipped with di-pilot 100. Denza is di-pilot 300. YangWang and the other luxury brand will be di-pilot 600. Your seal, surf/shark, atto2/3 etc.. should all fall under di-pilot 100 with a lidar sensor up top. The cars with a lidar sensor are usually a facelift of the existing models. So it could be up to the facelift model be released or local laws/regulations approvals for example that they may start testing

Means there‘s probably no way to get lidar system installed on other models?

That's a good question. I myself is located in the Netherlands. They started selling the seal in 2023 in the Netherlands. The Seal is a car from before covid (2018 release date in China) so i think it's safe to assume that the next facelift will be introduced next year or 2028. But just to be sure just keep an eye out to any announcements from BYD themselves. The facelift model is slowly being released in China so it will take a few months before we have some good data.

I don't think a retrofit is possible, like some things are retrofitted on ICE vehicles. They're both different architecture's so i think it's too early to say for sure, but maybe it is possible depending on what changes when you retrofit the new hardware (and hardware needs software to operate so it's not just a case of installing new hardware in a "older" car

Those with one lidar are DiPilot 300. Two Lidar is DiPilot 600. No Lidar such as the Seagull/Atto1 are Dipilot 100 and camera only.

From what I could tell, the 5R12V camera system comes equipped with lidar, which is the equivalent for di-pilot 100. The 300 and 600 also use it, but with more advanced lidar sensor and algorithms to interpret all that data. Edit: I think it's best to wait lol Wikipedia describes the car should come with di-pilot 100, but the article states it's 300. Lots of misinformation sadly.

I don't have experience with byd cars myself but i live in iran and we have byd qin l and song plus over here which i think is directly imported from china. The company offered to install god eye for those two models idk if they install lidar or it's just a software update but i know for sure that those two cars now support auto park and hands free auto driving

I don't know if it's true or not, but i read that there could be different hardware installed for the chinese version opposed to the international version. But i could be wrong ! TBH that'd good news, and does show that maybe a firmware upgrade to a newer gods eye version should be possible. For now i don't mind if my car does not receive the gods eye update. In four years my lease will be done, and we should have much more capable hardware/software while being much cheaper so i am really looking forward to how it developers.

Yeah i just double checked and we indeed have the chinese version the logo on the steering wheel and infront of the car is chinese and there is hardware installed on both sides of the car if the international model doesn't have the hardware it might not receive it but i still think it can be installed on models that doesn't have them i'm 100% sure the company that imported byd cars recently made an statement for upgrading the previous qin l and song plus models to equip them with god eye plus i think it doesn't require lidar and can operate only with cameras i'm also looking forward to buy a byd in the future i really love the tech and their cars but sadly we don't have the luxury of leasing cars. I can afford qin plus model and will buy one if they offer god eye on that model too.
