quite easy to ding along the edges (i got a few marks from ingress/egress when wearing jeans, nothing too deep, i have a touch up pen to sort it out)
other than that pretty okay actually in terms of rock chips and weather. good thing they dont use special techniques so pretty easy to paint match. shouldnt cost you much if you wanna repaint down the road

Black will always show up scratches n swirls more if you’ve owned one u’d know how annoying it is but also after a while u accept it is hard to maintain n wash regularly

My 18 month old black Atto-3 collected a few stone chips in a very short time as did the windscreen.
I don't think the paint quality is very good at all.

My conclusion is that BYD paint is really thin. Great car, lousy paint.
My 4 month old Sealion 7 had multiple rock chip paint damage on the front bumper. Mind you I've been driving sedately due to my preggo wife and Singapore is one of the cleanest country in the world, yet this happens.
I had to respray the front bumper to fix all the paint chip damage, then wrapped the entire car in PPF (paint protection film). I'd recommend PPF after purchase if you care about the looks of your car.

Thats why ive had black cars paint corrected and 'sealed' . My current car doesn't have a swirl in it but ya I know the pain of black cars.

How many miles has it done? I’m broaching the 10,000 mark in a blue Seal U and haven’t noticed any scratches, but I don’t take mine through automatic car washers.

I found this with my MGS5, I went from a tiguan where you could feel the thickness of the paint. But i am paying £60 less a month so I cant complain to much.
It is disappointing to hear this from BYD.

It had 10k on it but looked like most of them had been driving through bush's.

The paint on my 2 year old Seal is still immaculate. I get it cleaned by ppl that know what they are doing tho, so maybe its a case of not as hard wearing as some, mixed in with a dash of someone not knowing what they are doing?

I think the paint quality is excellent. I had paint protection applied after I bought it and every time I was it comes up as new.

When I had paint protection (Ceramic Pro) applied to my Seal (Shark Grey) I chatted with the guy; how many BYDs is he doing these days, etc.
He mentioned that he is doing lots of BYDs - mainly Shark utes - and he mentioned that in general BYD paint is pretty good, except for the Black.
He said that the Black was remarkably soft, and definitely recommends paint protection for black BYDs, as they would mark up easily with passing handbags/shopping bags in car parks etc.

yeah my white sharks paint is really good, no orange peel and very even metalic.

No issues with my black BYDs so far, only thing we had to repaint was a bumber, because one of the guys drove into a rock. And the first BYD we've bought had a very little damage from transportation (I would have never noticed), but that was a warranty paint job.
But like every black car, they get horribly dirty in swiss winter conditions with all the salt and snow sludge.

This was my Byd Seal after 2000km. Only handwash without mechanical scrubbing.
