NOTICE TO BYD DOLPHIN OWNERS: Audio issue following OTA V2.0.0

Quentinix | 2026-01-11 14:17 | 17 views

Hello everyone, I own a BYD Dolphin and am experiencing an issue with the audio system following the recent OTA V2.0.0 software update. If you have installed this update, I encourage you to test your audio system and provide me with your feedback. The V2.0.0 update seems to have altered the equalization and gain profile of the audio system, making it difficult to use. I have noticed that the volume has become harsh and disproportionately high from the lowest settings (between 1 and 8/10), making it difficult to listen at low levels. Listening to it quickly causes auditory fatigue, a feeling of “pressure” in the ears, and eventually physical pain. I believe that the V2.0.0 update has imposed an audio profile that is unsuitable for the Dolphin's standard speakers. In short: the system sends too much power and generates aggressive harmonic distortion. If you own a BYD Dolphin updated to V2.0.0 and you notice: * A change in volume management. * Degraded, “aggressive,” or tiring audio quality. Please comment below and indicate your exact model and whether your dealership was able to provide you with a solution. I have already taken steps with customer service and my BYD dealership, as well as with BYD Europe customer service, but I would also like to know if this defect is widespread. By joining forces, we will have more leverage to demand a quick OTA fix from BYD. Thank you in advance for your help!

have you tried doing the soft reset? apparently fixed the audio issue for most owners

Yes, it's been done, and not just once. And it's always uncomfortable.

I noticed that even in the minimum volume setting, it is too loud. I went to the equaliser and moved all the settings to the very minimum. Helped a bit. As for the sound quality I don't notice anything. Soft reset didn't help.

Only thing I've noticed is my dab radio has became intermittently fuzzy like it needs retuned

Indeed, lowering the equalizer to the minimum setting gives you a little more flexibility, but it doesn't solve the problem of ear pain. The reset didn't work.

Done same things. Feels good I’m not alone.

It’s not a Dolphin thing, Atto3 in EU also has a notable sound profile change with the latest update and dealer is pointing to BYD to solve it and the workaround is downgrading the OS

Quentinix 2026-01-11 18:31

Downgrading is a possible solution, but the dealership said no. 😄 But if there is a solution, I'm totally up for it.

LoGiX247 2026-01-11 18:32

Find another dealer or just park the car for the garage and force them to downgrade. The downgrade option is the only dealer solution they can do till next update from China.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to leave my car at the dealership. And dealerships aren't sufficiently developed where I live.

When I got my dolphin, one of the first things I noticed immediately was how aggressively loud the audio was, even at the lowest volume setting, it felt like a megaphone in my ears.  I can’t remember the exact setting but the way I fixed it was to change the acoustic positioning. The setting has a picture of the car from a top view and I targeted the sound towards the centre just behind the front seats. It’s made a huge difference and I can listen to the radio at any volume without grievances. I also changed a bunch of other settings but that was the main one that made a big difference.

Thank you for the tip, it’s already a bit better, but I feel like I have a fucking custom sound system in the trunk. 🤣

timmense 2026-01-12 15:59

lol I can imagine that. I’m not an audiophile so long as I’m not driving in silence anything is fine by me. I keep it btw 1-3 volume

Did the radio get the update where you can switch between saved channels using the steering controls?

I just had this exact same thing in my Atto3 after a service where they 'upgraded' the infotainment system. It's definitely broken something !

Have you checked with customer service? And what did they say?
