Personally, with this budget, i wouldn't buy **BYD** **Dolphin Surf** ...
... a 1 year old with 10 000 km mileage **BYD Dolphin** with 60 kWh battery and 204 bhp cost in my country less than a brand new Dolphin Surf Comfort, and you still get a great warranty with a 1 year old Dolphin.
Check the prices of Dolphin where you live.
Or even the brand new Dolphin is worth the extra money, instead of Surf Comfort.

Hi! Proud owner of a green lime Dolphin Surf (Comfort) since November 2025. I have to say that, in general, I don’t like to spend money on things I don’t really need, which is why I debated for quite some time whether I should go for the Boost or the Comfort version and if the extra features were justified.
After almost two months, it’s needless to say that I’m very happy I chose the Comfort version. The 360° cameras are a huge plus in traffic and when parking. The heated seats are also very comfortable during the winter season.
If you are getting a good deal from your dealership, I would recommend buying the Comfort version. It has every option and comfort a car in this segment and price range can offer — and even more.
Regarding the color, the pleasant surprise is noticing people looking at the car or pointing at it while driving. I like to call it my little Lambo 😄

This is exactly what I did. No regrets whatsoever, the regular Dolphin outperforms the Surf in every imagineable way.

360° camera - you can drive out of parking lot tank-style while your car is still defrosting. ❄️ Oh, and remember that nice marine mammal do not have rear wiper, so camera in bad weather often becomes your rear mirror.
TBH I barely use >60kW power from motor, but owning a Comfort trim I don't know if Boost has full LED beams or just halogen incandescent. Range is also nice to have, so I would definitively not buy lowest version. 🧐
Color? I chose blue one even if it cost €1k more, lime green was IMO too controversial for this 'Chinese-Lambo for the poor'. 💀

Only the comfort has LED headlights lights in the UK.
I test drove a boost and found it a little slow (coming from an old style MG5) so for me I much prefer the extra power the comfort has.

Go for it, you won't regret it.

There's a new Dolphin refresh coming out in the next few months. No point buying a new one now.

Ah, true. To clarify, the statement i referred to doing was ”buy a 1 year old used Dolphin”, which of course will take a bit longer if you’re looking for the upcoming version as a used version with the price of a new Surf.
But yeah, no point in buying a brand new one at this exact moment.

Let me know what you pick? I’m thinking about getting one in salary sacrifice scheme, the boost has a really good deal.
I like the black but it will be hard to keep looking clean. Yellow too garish for me, although maybe I should be brave. Blue reminds me of an old persons car for some reason so that leaves white!

I have a Dolphin Surf Comfort (blue though!), I most definitely appreciate the 360 cameras…so.so.so much haha and I switch on seat heating 5min before driving - absolute bliss in this cold weather!
