No software update for BYD Dolphin Surf?

SquirrelSpiderCat | 2025-12-12 23:16 | 33 views

BYD Dolphin Surf, UK... Still on software version v1.0.0 (a.k.a. System version 13.1.32.2502200.1), which is what it had from the beginning. With other words, so far not a single software update. Does you Surf have the same software version? Or is something wrong with ours not updating?

I'm still waiting for a callback from our local BYD dealership, they don't know the answer, so they have to ask BYD...

Hi everyone, I’m posting to check whether other **BYD Dolphin / Dolphin Surf** owners have experienced the same issues after the latest OTA software update. After the update, I noticed several **clear regressions in daily usability** compared to the previous version, in particular: * **Speed limit warning sound**: Even when the system is disabled, a warning message now appears **at every vehicle startup**. Previously it was shown only once. I understand regulatory requirements, but this behavior feels unnecessarily repetitive and intrusive. * **User Interface (HMI)**: The previous “dashboard-style” layout has been removed. Information is now displayed in smaller elements, with most functions pushed to the lower part of the screen, seemingly prioritizing background visuals over readability while driving. * **Radio – favorites list**: Before the update, the radio stayed on the selected favorites list across vehicle restarts. Now, every time the car is started, it reverts to the full station list, requiring manual re-selection. This also makes the steering wheel controls less useful. * **Access to the app list**: The swipe gesture from the main screen to access the app list has been removed. Apps are now accessed via a small icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen, far from the driver and less practical to use while driving. * **Steering wheel controls**: Due to the changes above, steering wheel controls are now less effective and often force additional interaction with the touchscreen, increasing driver distraction. I’m not against new layouts or system evolution, but a software update should be **an improvement**, not a step backwards. If certain design choices are not universally better, it would make sense to **give users the option to choose or revert to the previous layout and behaviors**. Have other owners noticed the same changes? Do you know if these are temporary bugs or permanent design decisions by BYD? Thanks to anyone willing to share their experience.

Posso chiederti come hai fatto?

J'ai suivi un tutoriel d'un groupe Facebook par clé USB, par contre ça ne met à jour que la partie multimédia, pas la voiture en elle-même.

Update v2.0 arrived finally a few weeks ago, work alright

Agree. While visually it looks better to me, functionality / easy of use is somewhat worse... Also, I was hoping that we could at least adjust the font sizes on both screens, as some of them (especially the ones on behind the steering wheel) are tiny.
