BYD Dolphin Surf UK

Hi All, I am going to collect my Dolphin Surf Boost in a couple of weeks or so and started looking into dash cams. I wanted to ask if anyone here had one installed, preferably ones that are installed into the car and not ones with loose wires and powered using the 12V. What make/model did you get and how much does it cost to install? Many Thanks in advance.

Personally I've used Blackvue's for at least a decade now, I guess they work fine, just watch a few videos and decide for yourself because this is such a subjective market, with some people thinking resolution doesn't matter, some have opinions on automatic contrast adjustment at night. A word of advice. I'm pretty sure all BYDs(at least the electric ones) can recharge the low voltage battery with the high voltage one automatically assuming the low voltage battery is low and the high voltage battery is above I think 15% SOC. So if you want a dashcam that works while parked to record any small knocks, some retailers will ask you to install an auxiliary battery, which I believe is actually not needed due to the self recharging function. Also, wiring it to work while in Park shouldn't cost too much extra, since they're just wiring to another wire which is constantly 'hot' instead of running it off a split of the 12v socket if im not wrong. Also consider getting a rear dashcam, which might be useful for catching small accidents when parked or when someone rear ends you with a phone in hand.

Thanks a lot for the information. I will have a look at Blackvue and will ask Halfords some questions regarding the auxiliary before letting them install it.
