Dolphin Car Insurance Options for child.

Hi, new to understanding what car insurance is. My parents are considering on purchasing a vehicle, however which insurance provider is the cheapest? From my understanding, they could have me under their name to reduce the costs. If you are a parent, what are the steps to find cheaper insurance? Do I need to sign up under their provider? I just got quoted $3000 a year if I were to insure it by myself. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

In Australia, it’s usually much cheaper to list the parents as the primary policyholders and add the child as an additional/occasional driver. That way you can leverage their rating and experience. Make sure to get quotes from a few major providers — NRMA, AAMI, Budget Direct, Youi, Bingle, and Allianz are all worth checking. You can also try aggregators like Compare the Market or Canstar to get a broader view. Also worth noting: insurers will ask who the main driver is. If you're driving most of the time but listed under your parents, it could cause issues with claims later on. Be transparent but strategic.
