BYD Atto 2 or Kia EV3?

exposed_silver | 2026-03-12 14:21 | 31 views

So we're finally going for an EV and narrowed it down to the BYD Atto 2 vs Kia EV3, same price about €32-33K for around 60kWh batteries. Anyone have any tips on what to choose or what not to choose? The Atto 2 has a heat pump and 360 camera the standard EV3 doesnt have the option, for those who have these, are they important in everyday life? The BYD seems to have more safety features and less cluttered interior. The Kia has an extra year warranty, more established network and isn't a new Chinese brand. The Kia also seems like the safer buy for its reputation. Any help appreciated

Ev3

For me, whilst I'm not fully again Chinese brands or anything. The jury is still out on long term quality in my opinion. They're just too new. For that reason alone I would go with the Kia.

Are you buying a second hand ev3 ? They start at 37k. But 100% I'd be buying it over the byd

No, new, we went in yesterday to try it out and they have a special offer on so the price is a few grand cheaper

Nice, I was looking at the ev5 for work to replace my skodiak, but the ev3 and ev4 are by far the best EVs in that bracket of size.

Ye, the boot space in the EV3 is pretty big, some decent features and physical buttons. We looked at the Elroq today but 4 year warranty vs 7 for the Kia and it was 37k. I would prefer to promote EU made cars but I prefer the Kia

Ye, I think pretty much the same, who knows the might get really popular in the next few years but at the moment, I don't see many in the wild and the price point isn't cheap enough to make me buy one

You need to be careful with the warranties they offer, the 4 years with Skoda only covers 120,000 Kms and Kia is 150k. They have separate ones for the batteries.

Ye, I doubt we will hit over 90k km in 7 years so not too worried. Most EVs now have 8 year warranties for the batteries by default so I guess they are confident they will last

Exactly. I wouldn't be happy paying to be a guinea pig. Of they were much cheaper maybe, but for the same price. Kia all the way.

I'm sure for low mileage they don't have to worry about many coming back either way but the failure rate is tiny and getting better with the good brands. When we bought our leaf this year, I read the fine print on their 7 year battery warranty and it says they guarantee 80% cell availability, or they replace the battery.

An amateur opinion. I could be wrong! Choose the BYD Atto 2 if: You want the most "kit" for your money. If you value the 360° camera, faster DC charging (155kW vs 102kW), and the safety of the LFP Blade battery, it is the objectively better-equipped car. Choose the Kia EV3 if: You prioritize long-term peace of mind, a local dealer you can shout at if things go wrong, and a slightly more "familiar" driving experience with better software (Kia's UI is generally more intuitive than BYD's

Are byd still offering their two free services? See plenty of BYDs around here as there’s a local dealer and they’re putting plenty of money into advertising and expansion in Europe, including a factory so I wouldn’t be worried about them not being around in future
