What do you mean by how well charge at home?
BYDs in Australia come with a slow charger that can give you 100km of range overnight. If you need to charge faster you would need to install a dedicated charger that starts at $500 plus installation cost. If you have a solar system and want to charge from extra solar only then the charger will be more expensive around 2.5k.
If you are planning to drive the same distances as your neighbor and charge from the grid at the same time then likely you'll be spending the same $ per week.
I don’t think anyone has received an Atto 1 in Australia yet, as sales have only just started. However you can check UK and Spain reviews they call it Dolphin Surf over there. All very positive. I can't wait to test drive one myself and order as a second car.

I have a 2025 Seal and think that the Atto 1 looks super cool. I'm gently coercing my wife to cosider buying one.
I have an EVSE home charger - unfortunately it doesn't calculate the cost of my charging, so I downloaded the data and knocked up a quick spreadsheet.
It seems that my Seal is costing me around $8.40 per week to run. I don't charge anywhere else but at home. I don't have solar panels or a battery (yet).

I was hoping to look at one at Everything Electric but they didn't have one there.

Although I know what you mean, it’s not entirely true that if you want to charge faster you’d need a dedicated charger.
There’s still a 15A GPO install option before moving up to a charger, that’s far far cheaper

Evidently first few deliveries have started from the demo batch, and more will be arriving between late jan to march for early orders. The base model would be fine for a second car for local traffic, but the premium probably a better fit if you wanted to take it out of the city or do much highway driving.
If you’re not sold on real small, check out the Dolphin. There have been deals close to the price of the Atto 1 premium for a similar but slightly larger and premium fitted car. Worth a look.

Have you looked into EV Specific energy plans? OVO has one where you can charge for 8c/kWh between Midnight - 6am

Highly recommend checking your electric plan to see when you have the cheapest power. You can then set the car to only charge during those hours to make it extra cheap (or if you have solar panels, just plug it in when it’s sunny).
I‘m going the Premium as it’ll be my only car and I want the 360 camera, LED lights, electric mirrors and overkill motor, but if it’s a second car you will probably be good with the base model.

I’ve had an Atto 1 Premium for just over a week. Put in about 500km and only charged with the included slow charger in the garage. Pretty set on us not needing a better charger based on our needs.
We’ve been doing urban & highway driving (max 100km/h) and getting >13-15kwh/100km on average. Charging cost would be ever so slightly lower than Atto 3 but would be negligible.
I did think the 4k more than justified the extra features.
My only problem is that the centre infotainment screen got bricked and the car’s at a service centre now 😂😂 That’ll do me for getting a brand new model. At least they have been quite helpful and gave us a loaner car straight away.

We charge a sealion 6 from 20% to full overnight.
Household of 2 people barely noticed an increase on the monthly power bill
Only filled petrol on it twice since purchase 6 months ago

Installed fast charger, do recommend. I pay maybe $25 a month on charging it. We do 20k kms a year, give or take

Good to know. I'm likely getting one in a couple of months and I wanted to hear if their service has been improving.

Make sure to find out about other people’s experiences at a dealer/service centre you might be using. I’ve been hearing wildly different experiences based on different locations. I think I just got lucky. Dandenong, Victoria fyi.

My local would be BYD Artarmon which looks pretty well established.
