Can't silence Google Maps navigation beeps on Android Auto (BYD Atto 3)

When using Google Maps on Android Auto in my BYD Atto 3, the app beeps constantly at every turn and junction - even though I've muted voice guidance and turned off audio cues. This makes Google Maps basically unusable for me. I've already tried: Muting navigation in Google Maps settings, Turning off "audio cues", Disabling "play sound for voice muted navigation". Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?
