V2G Atto 3 Australia

Does anyone know if V2G is supported on the stock Atto 3 Premium, it seems it's supported by Origin energy https://www.originenergy.com.au/about/investors-media/australias-first-vehicle-to-grid-enabled-ev-subscription-trial/ I was wondering are these vehicles modified? Firmware maybe I am looking to install a v2g charger if the price is right (most likely not for a while).

i believe the magic is in the charger unit. https://www.solarchoice.net.au/products/ev-chargers/starcharge-halo-v2g-charger-review/

Interesting but what about car that don't support v2g? How do you know if it's not on the spec sheet? I know for sure the Atto 3 does not say it supports v2g but everything I am reading says it does.

You need your wallbox to have the v2g capability to feed back to the grid cos oftentimes it's one directional. As long as you don't exceed the max v2L wattage/amperage, your vehicle shouldn't care, it just thinks it's doing a constant v2L. Just remember to limit the load to a continuous rating so it doesn't stress the inverter/other power components too much. TL:DR: Magic is indeed in wallbox, limit max output power to prevent issues

it doesnt require any hardware on the car side, because it uses DC to access the battery.

feck for 6k you can get a 42kwh + 10kw inverter from Fox ESS and do all the grid feed you want  I know cause I got a similar system

yeah kinda insane price at the moment. but if you're the only game in town you can charge whatever you want.

true, but again, at this price you can just get a house solar battery - doesn't work for everyone but I assume if you can install a charger like this you're likely a house owner and can likely fit a battery as well we need EV chargers that can be connected to these home batteries, so DC charging goes from car <> battery or from either converted to AC to the grid

I’m the first “trial” Atto3 with Amber. The car didn’t need any modifications to work with V2G.
