Software updates for the Tang EV and similar models

I think it is best to premise this post by saying the obvious: BYD updates, adds new features and improvements to its cars more often than your average car company; BYD also sends differing variations of the same model cars to each country. In my case, it was the Tang EV bought on the June of 2023. It has the old blue BYD logo + grille in the front. It was the first of its kind distributed in my home country. Interestingly, in the same year, BYD also released the newer version, the one with the new facelift, massage chairs, heads up display, among others. The newer version even uses the Type 2 charger, as the one I bought uses GB/T. Now this car of mine is a peculiar one: it does not have cellular connectivity (or any option to toggle or activate it). As a result, I cannot also use the BYD app. It has the 3.0 UI; it has no CarPlay and only Android Auto; its infotainment system is currently on version 15.1.30.2307250.1; and I have not, for as long as I can remember, received any over-the-air (OTA) updates on either infotainment system or ADAS. My cursory research online has led me to believe that this is because I need cellular connectivity to receive it. Because I bought this car from one of the few first dealers of BYD in my country, which is almost 1000km away, I had it shipped to my current address. Thus, I cannot simply bring this to the dealer I bought it from. Moreover, for the scheduled maintenance, I bring this car to the newly opened dealer near me. The problem, however, is that the technicians of this new dealer do not know or do not have the software update files for my car considering that they only sell the newer, facelift ones. They didn't even know that there was such a variation of the Tang EV. Hence, I'd like to respectfully ask members of this sub who are similarly situated or have the same model car (TANG EV 2022/2023 pre-facelift): 1. Is this car/model's software still actively supported? 2. What software version are you currently running on? Is it the latest version? 3. Are you receiving OTA software updates? How often are you receiving them? 4. If you do not depend on OTA software updates or if you update manually, where do you get the update files? 5. Can you use the BYD app? I'll be looking forward to your responses, if any. Thank you very much. Link to photo of [car](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sy-oHhdusMkHMGsApgACcAZKaV3xzvSe/view?usp=drive_link).

Hello, So to put things in context , i have the byd tang ev in one of the latest version, 06/2023. I'm answering here so I can continue updating my answer. QUESTION 1 : I don't know, I need to check. Question 2 : same need to check. Question 3 : I have received none for the moment. Question 4 : same , can't say for the moment. Question 5 : yes I can use the byd app, even with almost no cellular data, I don't really know how... I need to go to the BYD dealer, because I imported my car from the Netherlands to Belgium, and I'm still working out the process...

Hey, I think I might have the same car as you. Blue BYD Logo purchased in 2024 but it's 2023 version. I had 15.1.30.2207280.1 version, which I updated through USB to an international version which I don't recommend cause it's in Chinese broken English now. (Can't even downgrade back) Answer to every question in my experience is NO No OTA updates, No App, No internet, no Carplay, No Android auto. Dealer won't/ can't help me . I really love the car but that was a huge let down for me when I was told that id did have and it would be updated. Ended up getting a car link kit and use that instead.

That’s really sad. I hate how BYD just creates so much variations of the same car but does not give them equal support software-wise. Thanks for your response. If I may ask, which version did you update to? May I know your current version number? I also wish to downgrade but finding the 2207 firmware online is so hard.

I know, specially for the supposed flagship right? Right now I'm kn System Version 15.1.7.2205262.1 And FW 15.2.2.2309256.2.15.2.2.2103190.1

Wait so to be clear, you went from 15.1.30.2207280.1 to 15.1.7.2205262.1? I find this really interesting because from what I know, the X in 15.1.XX corresponds to the type of vehicle (as per Xinger on YT on his video on updating the infotainment system) and it wouldn't install if it isn't the right one. Also, may I know how you knew it is the international version and also where you got the files? I'm absolutely curious. I could test it out when I get the time.

So don't quote me in this but from my experience, 15 is the chipset and I matched that to what I had and I believe that the 7 and 30 might be versions like Spanish or LATAM or international. I don't have a screenshot of my.origina firmware but I'm from Mexico and I was given the info by the dealership so that's where I'm going from. The car used to be in Spanish when I first got it but the ADAS was super intense and I had no way of turning it off or so they told me so I looked for FW on Google and found a GitHub that had some global versions and use those 15.x, 3.0UI versions If you search Git hub BYD firmware it's the first link. In terms of what changed well I can deactivate ADAS sound now, got an IMEI also, a Chinese hub that seemingly should connect to BYD gas some stats and other interesting things. BYD store. The virtual assistant in Chinese again. And a bunch of updates menus that are super poorly translated which is hilarious.
