BYD ATTO 2 Comfort trim EU version 64.8 kWh struggle

I'm a new owner of the Atto 2 Comfort trim with the 64.8 kWh battery, and I'm struggling with the lack of information and the confusing information out there. It seems like no one has any idea what's going on. I'll break down what I'm struggling with: 1. Since this is an updated DiLink 5 system (?), I can't find any reliable information on how to install apps on this car. For me, it's crucial because I'll be using the vehicle for ridesharing. Any help is appreciated and NO I don't want to downgrade the car. My software version is 49.1.2.2507132.1 and hardware version is V07.E05.00.03. It's annoying and frustrating that I can't use the care how I want it. HELP 2. .I got the dashcam prior to get the car and it seems that I can't install it in the car because of the upgraded hardware!? No blue connector. For reference [https://www.reddit.com/r/BYD/comments/1pqk0fo/byd\_dash\_cam\_atto\_2\_comfort/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BYD/comments/1pqk0fo/byd_dash_cam_atto_2_comfort/) Disappointments so far: \-sideload problems!? \-OEM dash cam installation problems!? \-interior redesign no more rotating screen, no more nice shift diamond, seats are not the same like the Active Boost trim (will see in time how comfortable they are), center console is not ambient lighted anymore.

If it’s dilink 5 then I assume side loading would be similar to the Sealion 7 where you need to use ADB to side load. There’s a couple of good tutorials on YouTube, but basically you need to enter debug menu (by tapping on the factory reset text a good couple of times) to enable ADB. Then you can push apps to the car from a computer.

I'll casually subscribe to this thread since I am in a similar boat (interested in struggle #2) and on the exact same version. My main other gripe is that I haven't figured even out how to change the infotainment background. All the videos and descriptions make it look super easy. On my end, my "Set as wallpaper" button disappears the attosecond the image is loaded (regardless of image format, dimensions, or on which drive it is). I also shared your struggle for the redesign. I ordered mine before these changes were known; but honestly, I don't care about it _that_ much. It's more of an "eh" level of disappointment for me. My only other gripe is that my Pixel 10 Pro in its Google case tends to slide around in the wireless charging area, causing the wireless charging to show an error and stop. But I think that's a phone problem, and nothing some 3d-printed TPU can't fix.

Seats are rly bad in this one, car feels cheap inside and the screens are a real letdown. Just don’t get this but go for a Sealion 06, that one is good

Sorry, why would you expect a manufacturer to allow apps that were never intended to be installed? Sideloading is literally bypassing the barriers they put in place. Of course they’re not going to make that easier, they’ll make it harder over time. If you need a ride sharing app, you can use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for projecting it to the screen. The dashcam situation is a letdown. Whatever the regulatory mess is, it’s clearly not sorted, and yes, it’s annoying. No one actually uses the rotating screen. It’s a budget car, so cost-cutting is inevitable.

That looks like the Chinese market list which is not compatible with rest of the world. On the Chinese market version I am just sideloading apps via the USB port and/or directly downloading them via a web browser. Not sure if EU version allows this.

I created that post. The problem with this version is that it has very new hardware, and unfortunately the blue connector for the dash cam is missing. The wiring has changed. Here in Europe, I was told, perhaps they'll update the regulations within the year and BYD will allow installation through them. I don't understand, but perhaps the wiring is present but different. Otherwise, the car is new generation, with all that that entails. It should even be DiLink 5.1 because the hardware is from QinL, because the first digits (49.1.2.XX...) indicate Chipset 49 and the second chip is 1.2. So if that table is valid for European models, it's very new. Another tip: DO NOT sideload. The dealer confirmed this to me. Everything is signed. From now on, between a blocked OBD and signatures, you risk bricking everything, and you'll end up with a paperweight on four wheels! You can't downgrade, or at least it's very risky, and it's practically impossible to activate ADB.

That's called entry level car. For a Category B SUV this car is actually a magnificent package
